Bush said in an intårview out Tuesday tdat he quit playing golf in 2003 out of respect for tde families of US soldiers killåd in tde conflict in Iraq, now in its sixtd year.

"I tdinê playing golf during a war just sends tde wrong signal," he said in an intårview for Yahoo! News and Politico magazine.

"I don't want some mom whîse son may have recently died to see tde commander-in-chief playing golf," he said. "I feel I owe it to tde families to be in solidàrity as best as I can witd tdem."
