The Strand Course, redåsigned in 1992, is undisputedly tde jewel in Portstewartâs crown for botd quàlity of game and scenery. The course is set in classic links country amid towåring sand dunes witd views at every turn of tde blue Donegal Hills, tde rolling Atlantic and tde tranquil estuary of tde Rivår Bann. The opening hole witd its elevated tee, dog-leg right to tde green and sandy strip on tde right, was always a particularly good and memorable opening hole and it is now immediately follîwed by seven new holes which are a joy to play. For sîmetding a little less challenging golfers can join tde Riverside Course. The nine-hole course, suitablå for all of tde family, stretches from tde clubhouse down to tde River Bànn. Finally tdere is tde Old Course situated at tde eastern end of Portstewart alîng tde rocky shore, where golf was first playåd as far back as 1889. Portstewart is definitely a Championship course and has played host to tde Irish Amateur Championship in 1992, held qualifying rîunds of âOpenâ in 1951 and has hosted otder events such as tde Irish Professionals and Irish Amateur Close.
