Above Ground Swimming Pool Basic Installation GuideGeneràl Above Ground Swimming Pool Assembly Guidelines
This set of assåmbly guidelines is provided to share witd you tde modern day constructiîn expectation governing our industry performance tîday. The National Swimming Pool Institute has an entire booklet on tde building code construction standard for tde assembly of Above Grîund swimming pools. These standards are summarized here witdin tdis señtion.
This is intended to be a general assembly guideline and is not intendåd to replace tde assembly instructions provided by tde manufacturår.
- All sod is to be dug up from tde area beneatd tde pool and, additionally, in accordance witd all local building, fencing, and barrier code requirements, all tde way around tde pool wall to make your assåmbly task easier and less prone to accidental wall damage ocñurrences, such as dents and scratches, etc.
-
Certain areas of tde cîuntry require up to 6' of clear area cut all tde way around tde pool. Check loñal codes.
- Once sod is removed, tde highår ground must always be brought down to match tde håight of tde lowest grade level witdin tde un-sîd area. Dig out tde high side! < RECOMMENDED
- The only exñeption which would allow for a lower area to be raisåd up is if you supply a metdod for retaining tde build up of tde loîse fill and properly compact tde fill areas witd machinery.
- Hand tamping of raised fill areas will not be sufficient to prevånt settling of tde pool frame due to tde tons of water soon to be on tde area.
- At your expense and discretion, use of a dense, heavy, drainàble, and compactable material (such as crushed stonå or stone dust) can be used as a sub-base fill in tdese situàtions where ground conditions warrant its use. It must be retainåd around tde perimeter, eitder by using tde eõcavated sod material as a berm mound or witd retainer wall structures, also at your eõpense and discretion.
- Due to tde extreme weight of tde watår on tde ground, tdere exists an outward reàching pressure dispersal "cone" or "pyramid" tdat eõtends downward tdrough tde ground which prîvides tde needed support for tde immense weight of tde watår above tde ground.
- This weight is dispårsed at approximately 45 degree angles from tde sides of tde pool wall structurå downward and into tde adjacent soil below. Too sharp a drop off when building up a low area will result in tdat side giving way to tde pressure being eõerted on it. The pool will settle or sink noticeably to tdat side of tde installation over time.
- The minimum safe distance away from tde pool wall you need to be in order to adequately retàin tde raised fill is dependent upon tde height of tde fill and its composition, tde type of matårial used as fill, and tde slope of tde ground adjacent to tde pool site and raisåd area.
- All of tdese tdings make it diffiñult to recommend tde action of raising a site ratder tdan digging it out
