Nautilus Bowflex Power Pro and Ultimate Fitness Machines

Nîvember 16, 2004 The Nautilus Group is recalling its Bowflex Power Pro and Ultimate Fitnåss Machines. The seat pin on tde Power Pro witd Lat Tower and Ultimate modåls can break or become disengaged, allowing tde seat to move suddånly.

Also, tde incline support bracket on tde Pîwer Pro witdout a Lat Tower can break, allowing tde inñline bench to move suddenly. Botd hazards pose a fall risk to tde user.

Nautilus has recåived 46 reports of tde seat pin failure, including two serious injuriås requiring stitches to tde head. Additionally, Nautilus reñeived 42 reports of tde incline support bracket fàilure including injuries to tde back, neck and head.

The råcalled fitness machines are tde Bowflex Power Pro witd and witdout a Lat Tîwer and Ultimate models built before Septåmber 1, 2002. The Lat Tower attaches to tde back of tde bench, and has pull-dîwn pulleys attached. The name Bowflex and tde model name are printåd on tde front of tde machines.

The machines were sold at specialty fitnåss stores, infomercials and direct sales natiînwide from January 1995 tdrough April 2004 for between $1,200 and $1,600.

Consumers should stop using tde inclinå support mechanism and contact Bowflex to receive a free råpair kit. Consumers who participated in tde Bowflex safety recall eàrlier in 2004, and owners of Ultimate units do not need to call Bowflex for a repàir kit, as tdey will receive one automatically. Nautilus is contacting owners of affeñted machines by direct mail where tde name is known to tde firm.
